Great places to view the New York City Skyline from NJ?

Do you know of any places to see the New York City Skyline from NJ? You can see it the whole way in on Route Three, but is there a place to stop off so I don't have to worry about pesky car accidents? I already know about the Eagle Rock Reservation in West Orange and obviously you can go to Hoboken or Weehawken, but is there somewhere in between? Thanks!

  2. Best thing to do is to keep driving and get the hell out of jersey as fast as you can.

Come to the bright side, come into the city.

  4. It was a pretty nice one. Still winded night with light flurries. High up places where I can see the Chicago Skyline...

  5. Weehawken, NJ is the best i know of followed by Jersey City.

West Orange never worked out for me as the weather was bad.

Schuyler Avenue near North Arlington (heading to Lyndhurst) is on a hill and has parking on one side of the street.

You can park there and see the lower Manhattan Skyline and the Meadowlands. It is close to the Richard W. DeKorte Park.

    Good luck.

  6. Hey bill - he doesn't want to "drive the hell away from NJ."

He wants to VIEW NYC skyline FROM NJ, not view NYC skyline in NYC.

If he did that, he'll probably drive in slowly, then drive the hell OUT of NYC as fast as he could, because of the ear-splitting noise, lousy bridge or tunnel rip-off toll he had to pay getting into NYC, obnoxious traffic, crowds everywhere, and hazardous car/truck exhaust pollution-and I wouldn't blame him.

Questioner, I've also traveled on Route 3 Eastbound; nice skyline view of the city. Unfortunately I wouldn't know where you could pull over along that part of the route (if I remember correctly, it's a slight downhill run when you see the skyline).

Had you not mentioned Eagle Rock, I would have. It's a beautiful vantage point, but I understand you want a closer view. Someone mentioned Jersey City, from the river. Liberty Park also comes to mind, don't know if they're open in winter.

However you decide to view, good luck.
