  6. You have a big problem. most restaurants are closed on Christmas. If you are going on Christmas Day the only places you are going to eat are Chinese restaurants. I do not suggest that you go on Christmas Day, it is not a day to be in the city, it closes down on the afternoon of christmas eve and doesn't open up until the morning after Christmas.

Suggest you go around Christmas and Yes, would suggest ou go to Grammercy Tavern, but try making your reservations well in advance. All of Danny Meyers restaurants book up well in advance around the holiday season, hell, they book up all year long. Grammercy Tavern is perfect for a winter day. And yes, Tavern on the Green is beautiful, but built for tourists, food is awful.

  9. I believe the Rock Center Cafe on the ice skating level of Rockefeller Center would be open and have amazing atmosphere on Christmas Day. If the Plaza Hotel is open by Christmas that could be magic. Good Luck!

  17. Ive been to Tavern On The Green and yes beautiful location but the food is Awful! I mean Awful! Ive also been to Gramercy Tavern and its ok, just a little bit to touristy. What I recomend the most in all of NY for food is Little Italy, get off the subway at Spring St. and there are sevral romantic and authentic restraunts, great food with a great night life i strongly recomend it.

  18. Grammercy Tavern used to be lovely (its a while since I was there). Union Square Cafe is great. Balthazar is really great - very buzzy.

The lights in Times Square are great but I wouldn't call it romantic at all.

Book now! Have a great time.

  19. Now I would have suggested Tavern on the Green. I have heard rave reviews about the place. But you are going to be hit or miss with it being Christmas Day you are going to be pretty lucky to find anyplace that will be open Christmas day for dinner. But then I do not know New York very well. However check with the larger hotels. Since they have to be open 24/7 they may be having some holiday buffets set up. I know that Ritz Carlton, Marriott in Times Square, etc will have something nice set up. But I would first check with the hotels and even your hotel for recommendations on what will be available. Good Luck and have a great time, that sounds so romantic......
